The Soweto tour starts with the team leaving Johannesburg at 9am on the way to the destination, arriving around 10am, with the actual tour starting in Vilakazi. With visit the home of one of South Africa’s prominent human rights activists and freedom fight, the late Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu on Vilakazi street. After the Bishop’s home, we proceed to the late icon’s home on the same street, and this is the home of the late Nelson and Winnie Mandela, the face of the world, a could with a history like no other. From the Mandela’s, we proceed to the Hector Peterson museum, named after a little boy who met his death at the hands of the brutal armies of the former apartheid regime. From the Hector Peterson museum, we go have LUNCH at one of Soweto’s best mixed cuisine restaurant called Sakumuzi. After lunch we take off to the famous Soweto twin towers where those willing to to some activities can do so. After the twin towers, we take a lazy drive through some historic parts of the township, passing through the biggest hospital in the African continent, the famous Baragwanath hospital, before calling it a day.
